A fast and highly maneuverable aircraft for its time. However numerous accidents claimed at least 27 of the 46 aircraft delivered to the 8th Pursuit Group. The only original P-6E still in existence, this appears in the colors and markings of the airplane flown by Captain Ross Hoyt, Commanding Officer of the 17th Pursuit Squadron.
